Hey, there’s finally good flicks in the theatre again.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – HOT. One of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
The Departed – HOT. Great reviews, looks really good.
The Science of Sleep – HOT. A couple of our readers saw it last week, what did you guys think?
The Secret Life of Words – HOT/NOT. Sarah Polley and Tim Robbins? Nice. Unfortunately it’s from the same writer/director who did “My Life Without Me” that I found unwatchable.
The Grudge 2 – HOT/NOT. I never saw the first one, but the trailer is pretty scary. I’m inclined to give it the nod because of Sam Raimi as executive producer, like that means anything.
Shortbus – HOT/NOT. I thought Hedwig and the Angry Inch was weird but brilliant. This movie (whose claim to fame is graphic sex scenes and Sook-Yin Lee) seems to have really polarized reviews, some people love it while other’s hate it.
Trailer Park Boys the Movie – HOT/NOT. Never seen the show, so I can’t comment on it. People seem to love it.
Only Human – HOT/NOT. Looks like an average Spanish comedy. Might be a nice change from the usual american comedy crap.
Employee of the Month – HOT/NOT. Crap comedy from Office Space guy. I still want to see it.
Infamous – HOT/NOT. I swear people start blabbing about their script at parties and immediately someone goes to copy it. Another take at Truman Capote’s life, except this time without a helpful title like “Capote”.
Man of the Year – NOT. Robin Williams plays Jon Stewart. The trailer looked good, but critics are unanimous in calling this a sack of shit.
Ladies In Lavender – NOT. Boring cheese.
Alex Rider Operation Stormbreaker – NOT. C’mon.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning – NOT.
The Marine – NOT. Action crap, directed by nobody and starring nobody.
I thought I’d do something a little different this week, and I want to share something that has me excited. It’s the trailer for “300″ based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller. It’s written and directed by Zach Snyder who did the amazing 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead. The trailer makes me think of Brian Blessed from the first season of Blackadder, all bluster and violence.

Zack Snyder is also working on the forever doomed adaptation of Alan Moore’s Watchmen. Here’s hoping something comes of it.
